The Cuticles bringing the joy
The Cuticles channel a chaotic Christchurch '80s sound (think a blend of Scorched Earth Policy and The Builders) from their base between Dunedin and Christchurch. They are poppy, noisy, intense, and they don't mess around with most songs clocking in at the 2 minute mark. The band amazingly toured France recently, and played a killer show in Dunedin with The Biscuits and Stef Animal two weeks ago.
They have a new album called More Joy, their second on esteemed Chicago label Siltbreeze, following on from 2023's Major Works. More Joy has a massive 21 tracks while the earlier record had 18 but none of it drags – they don't mess around! There have been some personnel changes in between albums and judging by the quality of More Joy, the band is the better for it.
Ogled Moat is the third track off the album and sums up both the band and album well. I like it a lot and so should you. Go buy their record and see them if they come by.
